We ended the 2023/24 season with our annual books and berries event. So many wonderful books were donated to the book sale, and many members left with their arms full of summer reads. After the book sale, a few members shared what books they’ve read recently, providing a brief synopsis and why they enjoyed the books.

Here’s a quick list of the book recommendations with more details about each to be added:

Phyllis recommends:

“You are Here” – David Nicholls

“Years of Wonder – Classical Music for Every Day” – Clemency Burton-Hill

Bonnie recommends:

“Chawton Lake” – A story of Sandy Learner’s experiences during the renovation of Chawton House

Lorraine recommends:

“111 West Coast Literary Portraits” (featuring JASNA member Irene Howard)

“A Dead Man in Deptford” – Anthony Burgess

“The Reckoning” – Charles Nicholls

We ran out of time, and a couple of members did not get a chance to share their recommendations, but hopefully, we’ll hear from them at the next meeting. The book reviews were followed by a potluck that featured delightful berry dishes to celebrate the start of summer.
